Jordan (/ˈdʒɔːrdən/; Arabic: الأردن‎‎ Al-Urdunn), officially known as The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan (Arabic: المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية‎‎ Al-Mamlakah Al-Urdunnīyah Al-Hāshimīyah), is an Arab kingdom located in Western Asia on the East Bank of the Jordan River. It shares borders with Saudi Arabia to the east and south, Iraq to the north-east, Syria to the north, the Holy Land, Palestine, and the Dead Sea to the west, and the Red Sea in its extreme south-west. Positioned at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe, Jordan holds a strategic geographical significance.

The capital city, Amman, serves as Jordan’s most populous city and is the country’s economic, political, and cultural centre.

Jordan is categorized as a country of “high human development” with an “upper-middle-income” economy. Foreign investors find the Jordanian economy appealing due to its skilled workforce. The nation is a prominent tourist destination and is recognized for medical tourism owing to its well-established health sector.
