Welcome to Oman!
Oman (Arabic: عمان), officially recognized as the Sultanate of Oman (Arabic: سلطنة عُمان Salṭanat ʻUmān), stands as an Arab country situated on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Holding a strategically vital position at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, Oman shares land borders with the United Arab Emirates to the northwest, Saudi Arabia to the west, and Yemen to the south and southwest. Additionally, it shares marine borders with Pakistan. The coastal landscape is defined by the Arabian Sea to the southeast and the Gulf of Oman to the northeast.
Oman’s territorial configuration includes the Madha and Musandam exclaves, surrounded by the UAE on their land borders. The Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman delineate the coastal boundaries of the Musandam peninsula, a region of strategic importance due to its location on the Strait of Hormuz.
The Musandam exclave, particularly the peninsula of Musandam (Musandem), holds a key position on the Strait of Hormuz and is geographically separated from the rest of Oman by the United Arab Emirates. The collection of small towns known collectively as Dibba serves as the gateway to the Musandam peninsula by land, while the fishing villages of Musandam are accessible by sea. Boats are available for hire at Khasab, offering trips into the Musandam peninsula by sea, providing a unique and scenic exploration of this strategically significant region.
