Welcome to Turkey!

Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye), officially known as the Republic of Turkey (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti), stands as a transcontinental parliamentary republic in Eurasia. Predominantly situated on the Anatolian peninsula in Western Asia, with a smaller segment extending onto the Balkan peninsula in Southeast Europe, Turkey holds the status of a democratic, secular, unitary, and constitutional republic, boasting a rich and diverse cultural heritage.

The nation shares borders with eight countries: Greece to the west; Bulgaria to the northwest; Georgia to the northeast; Armenia, along with the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan, to the east; and Iraq and Syria to the south. To the west lies the Aegean Sea, to the north the Black Sea, and to the south the Mediterranean Sea. The strategic waterways of the Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles, collectively forming the Turkish Straits, serve to delineate Thrace and Anatolia while also acting as the geographical dividers between Europe and Asia. Throughout history, Turkey’s positioning between these two continents has consistently upheld its geopolitical and strategic significance.
